Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 30 August 2026

Our commitment

Nessa is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards.

We include accessibility as part of our development process.

Conformance status

Nessa is working towards conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We acknowledge that some parts of the application may not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard and we are actively working to address known issues.

Measures we take

  • Include accessibility considerations in our design and development process
  • Use semantic HTML and ARIA attributes where appropriate
  • Ensure keyboard navigation works across the application
  • Maintain sufficient colour contrast ratios
  • Provide text alternatives for meaningful images
  • Test with automated accessibility tools

Known limitations

We are honest about areas where Nessa does not yet meet full accessibility standards:

  • Voice input: The voice recording feature requires microphone access and may not be fully accessible to all assistive technology users. Text input is always available as an alternative.
  • User-uploaded content: Evidence files uploaded by users (images, documents) may not have text alternatives, as we do not currently provide a way to add alt text to uploads.
  • Community content: User-generated posts in the community may not always follow accessibility best practices.
  • Screen reader support: Some interactive elements may not be fully optimised for screen readers. We are working to improve this.

Technical specifications

Accessibility of Nessa relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • WAI-ARIA

Nessa is best experienced in modern browsers (the last 3 major versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge). Nessa is not compatible with Internet Explorer.
